The Premise

It's my 42nd year on this planet, roughly the midpoint of my life, and I thought I'd commemorate such a milestone with a year of ongoing chronicles. Your comments and "co-authoring" (adding your shared experience to any group events) are welcome and encouraged!

Snowmageddon 6.1

When I awoke randomly at 4 am, the second part (or second storm) of the 2-day snow attack hadn't yet begun, so I went back to sleep feeling encouraged. When I finally got out of bed at 9:30 (I'd read 'til 2 am), there was a fresh 6-inch coating of icy snow over the ground I'd spent so much time shoveling yesterday. C'est la vie! At least I have power and heat (for now). Since I can hear the freezing rain hitting the windows, I imagine it's only a matter of time before I lose one or the other, but I have my fingers crossed. So far the second (more ominous) storm is moving through the area pretty swiftly...

In the photos, the one on the left is what I can see from directly in my doorway. You can't even see the steps! And the picture on the right is of the backyard of my neighbors, directly across from my front door. The fence is 6 feet high, and the pile on the left is where the plow deposits all of the driveway accumulation. I need sunshine, blue skies and open windows!!!

  1. Whew! No power or heat loss today. I shoveled about 7 inches of heavy wet snow after the plow came by (he is always cool about not boxing me in), and was a lot more sore than yesterday! Hopefully the next two days will allow for some melting, or at least be a sunny breather before Saturday's turn...
